Joey Kelly

Joey Kelly is an extreme athlete, adventurer, entrepreneur and musician – and someone who, for decades, has been constantly seeking to discover where his own limits lie.

As a member of the Kelly Family, Joey grew up travelling through Europe and later performed on Europe’s biggest stages. Away from music, however, a second great passion developed: endurance, adventure and extreme challenges.

Since then, Joey has completed well over 100 marathons, ultramarathons, Ironman competitions and numerous extraordinary endurance challenges. His adventures have taken him through deserts, over mountains and across ice and snow. Time and again, he deliberately puts himself in situations where comfort no longer matters and where endurance, improvisation and the right kit are what count.

For Joey, it is not primarily about breaking records. He is drawn to the unknown: stepping out of his comfort zone, immersing himself in nature and discovering what is possible when you don’t give up at the first sign of resistance. This attitude also shapes his current projects. Together with athletes, adventurers and content creators, Joey develops and undertakes extraordinary challenges that focus on endurance, team spirit and authentic outdoor experiences. The first YouTube series in which Joey Kelly was supported by Katadyn was the successful series 7 vs. Wild, Season 3, which racked up 40 million views on YouTube alone. Here, the Katadyn BeFree helped the two-person team survive in the Canadian wilderness by enabling them to filter water from a small lake.

Numerous other survival YouTube series have followed, frequently featuring products from Katadyn, Trek’n Eat and Optimus.
For him, adventure always means being as self-sufficient as possible. Anyone spending several days out in the wild must be able to rely on their kit. Access to clean drinking water is particularly vital once the familiar infrastructure ends.
This is precisely where the worlds of Joey Kelly and Katadyn converge: self-reliance, reliability and the determination to keep going – regardless of where the next adventure takes him.
